Saturday morning started out cold. This whole spring has been cold. I was sure when I saw on the calendar that Easter was on April 24 that for once Easter wouldn't be cold and miserable. Well, enter an unusually cold and wet spring and what you get is a cold Easter. We went to Ian's soccer game and I was freezing.
After his soccer game we came home and got ready to go to Lagoon. We bought season passes this year and have had fun going on Saturdays. We spent a few hours there with our friends the Harvey's. It was chilly, but it had warmed up enough that with jackets we were comfortable. After Lagoon we came home and got ready to go to Jason's parents house. There, we ate dinner and then had an Easter Egg hunt. Alyssa insisted on wearing her new dress. I explained to her that she would probably be the only one dressed up. She started sobbing and just couldn't understand why we even made the dress if it wasn't for the Easter Egg Hunt. I guess wearing it to church Sunday just wasn't what she had in mind. She decided she didn't care if she was the only one dressed up and she was going to wear it anyway. I was kind of proud of her that she did what she wanted and didn't worry what everyone else would think of her.

The grandkids had a great time searching for eggs and then they played outside for a long time. I was cold, but it didn't seem to bother them at all. It was fun watching Andrew. He seemed to think he was just as big as the rest of the kids running around outside.

On Sunday we went to church. Alyssa wore a dress I made for her using a vintage 1960's pattern I found in a box of fabric. It was really cute on her. On the illustration on the front of the pattern the girls were wearing white gloves. Alyssa really wanted some white gloves to go with it so we bought some for her. She was wearing these gloves on Sunday at church.

During the sacrament I heard Ian whisper to Alyssa asking her if he could try the gloves. I didn't think much of it until suddenly there he was standing in front of us, facing toward us, acting like a mime. That's right, a mime! I had a hard time not laughing out loud at this. It was really funny. First his little right hand went up as if he was in a "glass box" and then the left hand. He moved each hand down a little and then did a funny little mime-type move with his head. At this point I grabbed him by the arm and made him sit down. Too bad it was at the most inappropriate time or I would very much have liked to see more of his mime routine.
After church we finally got around to dying our Easter eggs. I cooked a nice dinner, of turkey breast and mashed potatoes and gravy. We at dinner on my good china. My parents were in Hawaii celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary, so we had a little Easter celebration with them last week.
It was a nice holiday spent together as a family and really, that is all I could hope for.
