Alyssa's Baptism

Alyssa was baptized on Saturday, July 2, 2011.  We took some pictures outside the Stake Center (while we waited for someone to come unlock it.)


Alyssa's uncle, Danny, said the opening prayer.
Grandma Summers gave a talk on Baptism, Ian and her cousin Luke were great helpers by holding up pictures for her.
Alyssa and Jason both said the water was VERY warm.  Her Grandpa Summers and Grandpa Schoenfeld served as the witnesses.  As soon as she came up out of the water Ian shouted, "That was cool!"  It gave us all a good laugh.
After changing her clothes, Alyssa and I sang a duet of the Primary song, "Baptism"  We were then followed by Alyssa's aunt, Andrea, who gave a talk on the Holy Ghost.  She had a cute little box with some things inside that are to help remind Alyssa of all the ways the Holy Ghost will help her, such as a compass (direction),  a flashlight (to show her the way when she faces big decisions), a blanket (for comfort), a glove with pictures on each finger (reminding her of how he will help her build her testimony), and a small bell (that you have to listen very carefully to hear, like the still, small voice.)
Jason confirmed her, and he was joined in the circle by her grandfathers, uncles; Danny, Mike, Garon, Richard, Jake, and Steve Spear (my cousin).

Finally, the bishop and Primary President said a few words.
Her aunt, Jenni, said the closing prayer.


After the baptism our guests came over to our house where we had an ice cream sundae bar.  It was a beautiful day.  Alyssa was beautiful, happy, and made a great choice.  She seemed truly prepared for this event.  In the prior months we had been reading the Book of Mormon together.  Alyssa seemed to have a good understanding of the gospel, the restoration, and has a testimony of Jesus Christ.
